KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTLE
Strange Town, The Scottish Storytelling Centre.
Adaptation of Francis Beaumont's 1607 play in which a grocer and his wife interrupt a romance play to insist that their apprentice, Rafe, join in and play the part of a knight errant.
Metatheatrical, surreal, and completely ahead of its time, KOTBP was originally written for a 'boy's company' of trainee actors in Shakespeare's London. This adaptation aimed to preserve the spirit of the play for a new generation of young actors in Strange Town's talent agency.
